After what he describes as "an intense time of seeking the will of God," Reverend Julius Jefferson responded to God's call to ministry on March 16, 1978. He says his salvation experience contained a call to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. After the call, he recommitted himself to serving Christ through active membership and participation in his local church. During his ministry, he learned a profound truth-to accept people where they are. Rev. Jefferson counts this revelation as a tremendous blessing, freeing him to do ministry in ways he could not otherwise
have done before, and forcing him to love people more than he was able to love before.
Reverend Jefferson possesses as impressive ministerial resume that includes a military ministry as well as service as the Interim and Stated Supply Pastor for Heritage United Church of Christ. His military service includes position as Deputy Chief of Chaplains with the Air National Guard Chaplain Service in Arlington, Virginia; Air National Guard Liaison to the Director, Chaplain Service Institute at Maxwell Air force Base in Montgomery, Alabama;
and the Family Support Coordinator with the Air National Guard in Newbury, New York.
Additionally, Reverend Jefferson was the founding pastor of a new United Church of Christ congregation-Community United Church of Christ in LaGrange, Georgia. He served as Special Project Officer at St. Mark Community Center in New Orleans, Louisiana; Project Coordinator, General Board of Global Ministries, United Methodist Committee on Relief in New York, New York; Area Executive Secretary, General Board of Global Ministries; Pastor of Warren United Methodist Church in Lake Charles, Louisiana and student Pastor at Goodsell United Methodist Church in Gadsen, Alabama.
In 1969, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Southern University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. And later,
a Master of Divinity degree from Candler School of Theology, Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia in 1982.
